.Freedom of thought vs Punishment into submission
Today, there was an SMS-battle between Henrik Alexanderson (PiratPartiet) and Erik Almqvist (Sverigedemokratisk Ungdom), and I found it was quite interesting for a number of reasons. Partly because SD in general reminds me of a particular party in Denmark. The other reason is, that the was a good image of the current political situation in many european countries. I was going to comment on Henriks blog, but then I wanted to say too much and I then turned it into this rant instead:/
The Church of SverigesDemokraterna
Today, most “common” people agree, that an complete renewal of the political systems/parties is required. Through out the 20th century, Marxism, National Socialism and Nationalism, all founded on assumed conclusive social assertions, have managed to influence european politics to a point where we time and time again lose sense of drawing any type of rational conclusions, which ultimately always leads to the devastation of societites.
These totalitarian ideologies feed on the human need for self-determination and independence, and its that very basic need, they use to gradually take away our right to freedom and liberty.
Now, Im not really inclined to say too much about the motives of SverigeDemokraterna, all though Im happy to see a political party with a more “silly” name than ours (PP):), but after having read the SMS-battle and skimmed through their site, there is no doubt in my mind, that SD belongs in the group I just mentioned.
So, whatever we may think about SD, my point is, that their political ideas and organisation are, like all the other “gammelpartier”, based on a single monolithic idea perhaps best compared with the definition of a Church. Ie. imposing on other people a of doctrine of salvation, as we see in the “den svenska identiteten” that apparantly needs to be found. I wont mention what that kind of thinking has lead to in Denmark, but the idea is that you can be liberated from your supposed imperfect state of being, if you adopt the “correct”(what the church of SD dictates) world view.
So, SD is a church and that is what separates them and us (PP). This is the actual battleground, not how much money should be spent on this or that.
The political parties of the future are pluralistic
What many people fail to realize about the pirate philosophy is, that its not based on a monolithic princip, but is defined by being open and pluralistic, encouraging dialogue with others and promoting human relations in generel. We accept pretty much any kind of opinion and variation, as opposed to the monolithic Party Whip. This pluralistic way of thinking depends on the exchanges of thoughts, interactions, and even contradictions, which totalitarian ideologies consistently forbid.
From the very beginning, PP has been advocating for the freedom of the individuals to create and express their own ideas within the party. We dont force a world view on anyone, but advocate a policy where everyone can think freely. Its therfor obvious why PP keeps getting rejected by the old totalitarian traditions, but we must admit that building the foundation for a true modern open political party of the future, leaves a flank open for the religious old parties to attack.
All the talk about wasted votes, you should cover this area and that area etc is just nihilistic jibberish in the sense, that if a “national plan” was cooked up over night, or arrived conveniently on the desk “with no strings attached”, we would no longer be a pluralistic party by definition but most important, we would be building our construct on a half finished foundation.
My message to those of you who doubt or are skeptic about PP not being broad enough for your personal taste, is very simple; We need you to help build that future you dream of!
One thing is certain, if you stay on the sideline and complain about a failing system, and yet fail to support those who dare dream of something bigger than punshment into submission, then you utterly belong in the chains you have forged for yourself.
